UCC Executive Certificate Course
This course introduces the learner to the methods and techniques utilized in planning, organizing, implementing, promoting and executing events relevant to the tourism and hospitality sector. This introductory course will provide participants with the practical skills and knowledge required to successfully plan, implement, organize, manage, monitor and evaluate special events, manage entertainment activities as well as conferences and conventions.
This course engages learners to develop a wider understanding of the entertainment industry (national and international) and exposes them to a range of practical and cognitive skills.
This course aims to expose participants to the contemporary realities and issues impacting the entertainment industry globally. These include the growing economic significance of the creative sector, the impact of globalisation and digital convergence. Emphasis will be placed on the development and expansion of the Jamaican entertainment industry, and how the proper management of the sector is crucial to realising the huge economic potential of the sector. Learners will be introduced to common issues and best practices in the management of entertainment organizations.
Throughout the course, emphasis will be placed on applying knowledge to realistic and relevant problems faced by entertainment professionals. This course will also use regional and international examples relevant to entertainment management to allow for a fulsome understanding of the role of entertainment in the tourism and hospitality sector. Students will be exposed to the planning, promoting, execution and monitoring functions of entertainment management.
