This course is designed to equip the students with theoretical and practical knowledge, to analyze the financial markets and instruments traded on these markets. This involves an examination of local and international financial markets.
At the end of this course, students should be able to:
- Identify and outline the fundamentals of financial markets.
- Identify and describe the features of organized securities exchanges and over-the-counter markets: Describe the types of stocks and perform calculations related to valuation of stocks and other securities.
- Identify and examine the role players in the securities market: The relationship between the stock market and the economy/industry and perform company/industry and market analyses.
- Differentiate between spot and future markets; differentiate between regional and international securities exchanges and their types of securities traded.
- Assess and evaluate the foreign exchange market: The effect of fluctuations on the economy; the effect of demand and supply for foreign exchange on economic development; the effect of exchange rate calculations and the features of the commodities and mortgage markets.
This course is open-entry. There are no prerequisites for entry.
