UCC Single Module Certificate Course
The course provides participants interested in human resource management with the basic knowledge and skills required to assess and determine the suitability of a performance management system for a given organization.
Participants will have the opportunity to formulate performance objectives based on corporate objectives and the strategic direction of a given entity. They will be further exposed to the typical intentional and unintentional errors and ways to avoid them during the rating of employee performance. Conducting appraisal feedback sessions in a non-threatening developmental, legal and ethical manner is another key feature of this course.
After successfully completing this course, participants will be able to:
- Explain how Performance Management supports an organization’s mission and strategy.
- Examine the various performance management programmes and best practices and define the attributes of effective an performance management system.
- Discuss the role played by the six (6) legal principles in the implementation of performance management systems.
- Examine the use of job performance standards and performance indicators that reflect the employees’ range of responsibilities.
- Assess how increased employee involvement can contribute to effective performance in the workplace.
- Explain how coaching employees can assist them in identifying career paths and describe the resources that should be available to support staff development.
- Describe and evaluate the process of communicating with employees on their performance.
- Suggest appropriate actions for improving employee performance based on their strengths and weaknesses (including training & development, wage increases, promotions, and bonus).
