RATIONALE
The World Wide Web is the Gutenberg press of our time and has truly propelled us into the information age. It is important for information technology students to have knowledge of popular and commonly used Internet authoring tools.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This introductory course in Internet Authoring will introduce students to the tools needed to develop and publish Web Sites. At the end of this course students should be able to comfortably design, develop and publish their site on the Internet. Students will also be exposed to selected internet authoring tools to develop and publish web pages.
GENERAL OBJECTIVES
At the end of this course students should be able to:
• Appreciate how the Internet works
• Understand the principles of HTML programming
• Appreciate the use of JavaScript to add interactivity to web pages
• Appreciate the use of Style sheets to give a professional look to the page design
• Understand how to use various authoring tools to develop web pages
• Appreciate the copyright, security and legal issues that surround the use and growth of the Internet
