Spring 2024 Examination Advisory: Student with Disabilities/ Special Needs, Examination Permits & Financial Obligations

This notice is applicable only to Traditional Associate Degree (TAD) and Bachelor degree students.  

Dear Students,

Student with Disabilities/ Special Needs

The University is committed to creating and maintaining an environment in which all students can learn and work to their fullest potential. The University will, therefore, ensure a supportive environment for students with impairments or medical conditions by providing reasonable accommodations to students who have the proper supporting documentation. The University will make every effort to promote the independence of students with impairments and to identify the tools they will require to accomplish their educational and career goals. Special Arrangements- Special Assessment Arrangements may be requested by students who are affected by one or more of the following:

  •  Specific learning difficulty, for example, dyslexia
  •  Sensory impairment, for example, hearing impaired, visually impaired
  • Medical condition, for example, epilepsy
  • Emotional/behavioural difficulty, for example, Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)
  • Mental health problems
  • Physical disability
  • Temporary illness or injury at the time of assessment.

 

SPECIAL ASSESSMENT ARRANGEMENTS WHICH MAY BE REQUESTED

  • Additional Time (up to 30 mins for each examination)
  • Rest Periods/Supervised
  • Assistance
  • Modified Question Papers - visually impaired students 
  • Modified Stationery
  • Presentation of Responses - Candidates may be permitted to use a sit online with a Proctor, solely as an alternative to handwriting.
  • Separate Accommodation
  • Furniture - Specially-adapted furniture may be approved, if required.

 

Examination Permits & Financial Obligations

Please be guided by the steps below on how to generate and/or print your examination permit. You MUST read the Examination Advisories - sent on March 28, 2024 to ensure you generate this permit on or after the date specified on which the permit becomes valid.

  1. Login to Aeorion (aeorion.ucc.edu.jm).
  2. Click Exam Permit under the Finance tab.
  3. Change the default sequence to reflect Term (Spring), Year (2024), Campus (UCC Online/Montego Bay (MOB) Kingston/Mandeville(MDV)), Schedule Type (Undergraduate).
  4. Submit your selection.
  5. Export to download (PDF document) or print permit. 

 

GENERAL NOTES - FACE TO FACE EXAMINATIONS: 

1. Your Permit will not reflect the campus approved for an assessment, preferred campus for an assessment or preferred modality (face to face or online). It is just used to determine the courses you were registered for in the semester and will be signed by the Invigilator once you have completed the assessment face to face. 

2. If there is a financial hold on your account, please contact sfshelpdesk@ucc.edu.jm or your Campus Manager. Ensure that your registration has been completed for your Spring 2024 courses and Alternative/ Resit Examinations for a previous semester.

Students who are registered on Aeorion SMS and are in good financial standing, can access downloading their End of Module Exam Permit for Spring 2024, as of April 03, 2024, on the SMS platform. You should however note the following:

i) ‘Hold restrictions’ have been placed on all students with outstanding installments on their payment plans.
ii) Students with a ‘hold restriction’ who attempt to download an Exam Permit to the computer will receive a message asking them to contact Student Financial Services (SFS) or their Centre Manager immediately. These students will not be able to download exam permits.
iii) The situation will be reviewed once the student makes contact.
iv) Students who do not make contact will not be able to download their Examination Permit.
v) Examination Permit(s) downloaded before April 03, 2024, will not be valid for the April 17th - 30th 2024 End of Semester Assessments period.
