Business Development Officer

The Business Development Officer assists the Director of the Center for Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Technology with the development of  new business initiatives such as partnerships and franchising crafting  proposals with minimal day-to-day oversight, coordinating the overarching process by establishing and adhering to timelines for technical and cost volumes; troubleshooting solutions to unexpected challenges; ensuring that proposals meet specifications and deadlines as well as Pact’s quality standards; drafting sections of proposals; finalizing documents; and coordinating submission, among other activities.

He/ She adds to the strategic, analytical thinking needed to craft a winning proposal and negotiations with the tactical skills needed to address the day-to-day details of proposal management throughout the proposal development lifecycle, including but not limited to pre-positioning for new opportunities; managing live proposals; coordinating and submitting responses to questions; coordinating internal after-action reviews; gathering feedback .

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Includes the following but not limited to :)

  1. Innovation Center
    1. Project Management
    2. Sales and Account Management in internal and external clients.
    3. Collaborate with Innovation Center Consultants. Participating in related activities
    4. Complete and apply for Tenders and RFPs Globally
    5. Conduct market research and product development activities
    6. Develop Program Initiatives and Project Outlines
    7. Form Relationships with Other Organizations
    8. Draft MOUs for approval of UCC legal officer
    9. Oversee Funds and Budgets
    10. Generate Program Reports
  2. UCC Internal Innovation - Product Development, Process Improvement and Initiatives
    1. Submit global ideas and initiatives for review to the Director.
    2. Develop Partnerships and Cultivate Support within UCC stakeholders. Executing projects under guidance of respect offices and officials, observing UCC policy and guidelines.
    3. Support initiatives by liaising with various stakeholders, identify aspirations and desired outcomes, build-out a community and consensus, publishing a set of specific and discrete goals and targets.  
    4. Develop and co-ordinate ideation using electronic ideation and community platforms such as Idea Scale. Coordinate groups determine rewards and oversee transformation from idea to distilled project.
    5. Support activities to create a corporate culture of innovation by planning and executing various events, meetings and activities within UCC, Clients and Partners related to the initiative
    6. Drive awareness, educate and set norms by participating in webinars, seminars, training events, press events, town halls. Developing marketing collateral and distribute related to the initiative
    7. Inform and manage stakeholders by regularly publishing newsletters, content, data and updates. Conduct surveys and interviews related to the initiative 
    8. Develop policy documents and guidelines for UCC, Clients and Partners related to the initiative
    9. Organizing programs, projects and activities related to the initiative
    10. Submit initiative projects, activities and budget for approval to the Chief Innovation Officer
  3. Foundation and NGOs
    1. Form Relationships with Other Organizations
    2. Draft MOUs for approval of UCC legal officer
    3. Develop projects and joint ventures
    4. Write grant proposals and attract funding
    5. Develop a strategic plan, program, projects and activities
    6. Organizing programs and activities in accordance with the mission and goals of the organization. Developing new programs to support the strategic direction of the organization.
    7. Complete reports on the progress and efficiency of the project
    8. Observe Multi-Jurisdictional Regulations, Cultural issues and Constraints. Finding solutions to any issues that may arise.
  4. Ventures
    1. Develop Business Plans
    2. Develop Proposals
    3. Develop and Structure Joint ventures
    4. Identify and Pursue Financing
    5. Develop Project Plans
    6. Complete Project Management
    7. Support build out of permanent staffing, board, advisory board and corporate structure
    8. Support Venture Business Development
    9. Support Venture Marketing and Brand Development
    10. Review progress of venture in meeting targets and deadlines
    11. Observe Multi-Jurisdictional Regulations, Cultural issues and Constraints. Finding solutions to any issues that may arise.
  5. Corporate Innovation Services
    1. Identify potential clients and support customer acquisition
    2. Identify expressed need of corporate clients
    3. Develop Partnerships and Cultivate Support among Client stakeholders. Executing projects under guidance of respect offices and officials, observing clients corporate policy and guidelines.

  6. Courses
    1. Identify new courses and content
    2. Support the develop course content where applicable
  7. Performance metrics
    1. Timely delivery of MOUs and partnership agreements requested
    2. Timely delivery of research, reports and assessments
