Electronic Reference Service
This service is designed to answer brief, factual questions or provide suggestions to sources where you might find the answer you need. If you have a more in-depth question or lengthy research, please visit the main library, or your nearest branch library, and consult a library personnel.
You should receive a reply within 3 business days. If you need a quicker response, please contact us.
Questions Appropriate for Email
- Basic informational questions that can be answered in a few sentences or less, usually by consulting one or two standard reference
sources (encyclopedias, almanacs, directories, dictionaries, etc.).
- Questions regarding the location and availability of resources, such as specific books, magazines, professional journals, or Internet sites.
Before you ask this type of question, you may want to check our library’s catalog to determine if we own a particular item.
Questions Not Appropriate for Email
Questions that require sustained and systematic research, such as term paper topics, assignments, investment and business planning, etc. In these cases, you should come to the library in person for consultation.
The library Staff will respond to every question submitted. However, if it appears that your needs cannot be adequately met through this email service, based on the guidelines listed above, you may be encouraged to call or visit the Library for a more thorough consultation.
